Connecting to Purpose in Schools and Classrooms (September 2025)

$49 Enroll

Full course description

Connecting to a sense of purpose is both an important aspect of well-being and a consequential indicator of a life well lived. Just like attending to our own well-being allows us to better care for our students, living into our own sense of purpose can help to inspire and guide students towards finding meaning in theirs. This community of practice will help you to clarify your purpose as an educator, and help you to cultivate a sense of purpose in your students and/or school community.

Why Join?

  • Clarify your own sense of purpose in your personal and professional life.
  • Learn how to inspire students and/or staff to find meaning and cultivate purpose.
  • Connect with others to share insights and strategies for a meaningful impact.

What’s Included:

  • Three 90-minute facilitated sessions with the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley
  • A deep dive into the science of purpose with a small group of like-minded educators from around the world
  • Resources and takeaways to apply directly in your school and/or classroom

When to Attend:

Each week we will offer three opportunities to engage in a community of practice—please join one session each week on the day/time that works best for you:

  • Tuesdays: September 9, 16, 23 (3:30 - 5:00 pm PT)
  • Wednesdays: September 10, 17, 22 (2:00 - 3:30 pm PT)
  • Thursdays: September 11, 18, 24 (9:00 - 10:30 am PT)

Sign up for this transformative Community of Practice and start creating a more purposeful, inspiring environment for both you and your students.

We have tried to make this programming accessible to many income levels; if the cost is prohibitive to you, please reach out to us at ggsceducation@berkeley.edu to discuss options.

After participating in all three sessions in this community of practice, you will receive a Greater Good Educators badge with 5 clock hours of professional development credit from UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center. One unit of graduate level credit is available after every 15 hours of participation (3 separate communities of practice) from the University of the Pacific through Courses4Teachers

For more information about this option, visit Courses4Teachers and review their process for registration.
